E-recruitment, also called as Online Recruitment, is the term used to describe the electronic recruitment process used to search, evaluate, and hire employees. Companies now use the internet to connect with a lot of job seekers and hire the best people for their organisations. This improves the effectiveness and efficiency of the hiring process.

In e-recruitment, organizations use web-based resources and software to find, attract, interview and hire new employees. Tasks like Advertising jobs / accepting applications / communicating with applicants and keeping track of their progress can be done by using Cloud base or internet based software (Thomas International, 2022).


Methods of E-Recruitment

Finding and Attracting Potential Candidates -   Social media is a powerful tool for creating employer branding and finding suitable candidates. Networks like Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram have been frequently used sites for finding, following and hiring candidates online.   
Using Applicant Tracking System - This software assists in sorting out qualified resumes when large number of applications have been received.  
Interviewing Candidates Online - By using free interview video tools like Skype, Zoom ,Google meet etc., HR managers can conduct interviews online.
Using Job Boards - Web Boards are websites that recruiters use to advertise specific employment opportunities. On the other hand, job searchers can utilise job boards to look for fresh employment opportunities in their industry.

Advantages and Disadvantages of E-recruitment


Advantages 

  • Low cost compared to physical recruitment process
  • Save Time
  • Reduce paper work and have becomes more efficient and easy to record details of the applicant during hiring process
  • Ability to reach large number of Applicants
  • It enables businesses to build up a sizable skill pool for upcoming demands.
  • Improve corporate image


Disadvantages

  • Employers may get unqualified Applicants – May create pool of unsuitable candidates
  • Creates additional work – E-recruiting puts more work on HR employees because they must sort through a lot of resumes and respond to a lot of emails.
  • Limited Access  - It may be difficult for some applicants to access internet specially in rural areas. As a result, some talented people would not receive the benefits that businesses offer, which could loss of both candidates and employers.
  • Privacy – On the website, can simply get information about candidates' bio-data and other details.

Recruitment is a crucial task in organisations. There will be a greater reliance on technology as the world moves towards digitalization. The range of recruiting has altered as a result of the variety of tools, programs, and technology available to recruiters today.

  1. As you have mentioned, it is very easy for candidates to apply for jobs online;
    this can also be a negative point. Posting a position online usually results in hundreds of applicants, many of whom won't fit won't be serious about the position, diluting the quality of your talent pool.
    In addition to that I would like to add something about online assignments and video interviews which are not live. As a example video interviews which candidate supposed to answer for a pre recorded question. In such occasions like online assessments candidate can get help from other one or can refer a book or internet to provide answer. So there is a chance of disqualified one to come into the company.

The article provide us what is E-recruitment and it's advantaged & disadvantages clearly Gayatri . .E-recruitment, also known as online recruitment, refers to the use of web-based technology for the various processes of attracting, assessing, selecting, recruiting and on boarding job candidates . Through e-recruitment employers reach larger number of potential employees. Companies may build their e-recruitment platforms in-house, use e-recruitment HR software or employ recruitment agencies that utilize e-recruitment as part of their package.
